IPTV on Google TV: Setup and App Guide

Google TV is Google's consumer interface layered on top of the Android TV platform, used on devices like Chromecast with Google TV and the Onn Google TV Box.

Google TV vs. Android TV

Google TV uses the same underlying app platform as Android TV, so IPTV apps built for Android TV generally install and run the same way. The main difference is the home screen interface and content recommendations Google layers on top, it doesn't change app compatibility in any meaningful way for IPTV use.

Installing an IPTV app on Google TV

Install your chosen player from the Google Play Store built into the device, the same as on any Android TV device. See our apps overview for commonly used players and the platforms they support.

Setup steps

  1. Install your chosen app from the Google Play Store.
  2. Open the app's playlist or Xtream Codes login screen.
  3. Enter your subscription's connection details.
  4. Load the channel list and guide, and test playback on a couple of channels.
